I’m Jennifer, Founder of Little Home Creations, and I began baking Sourdough for my family as a more gut-friendly, lower glycemic option rooted in my love for food and creativity.
Our Sourdough is naturally fermented using simple, preservative-free ingredients.
I come from a large, loving family where food has always been our love language. I grew up watching my grandmother cook for everyone—endlessly and selflessly. The kitchen was where she showed love, where she cared for and raised her family, and where everyone felt safe and nourished. My grandmother, and now my parents, often asked the same simple question—and I find myself saying it too to the people I love most: “Have you eaten yet?”
In an Asian family, we don’t always say “I love you.” Instead, we ask if you’ve eaten. It’s our way of saying I care about you. I’m thinking of you. I want you to be well.
Recently, I married the love of my life—my biggest supporter and motivator, the one who encourages me to follow my dreams even when I’m not quite sure what they are yet. For a long time, I didn’t truly know what my dreams looked like.
I just knew how I felt when I was creating.
As a child, I loved art. I was drawn to creativity, design, and thoughtful expression, even while my parents lovingly pushed me toward science and medicine. I carried both worlds with me—logic and creativity—never fully letting go of either.
From a young age, I was curious about cooking and deeply passionate about design, creativity, and thoughtful work. I remember thinking, if I could do anything, I would want to combine all of this. I wanted my hobbies to exist in real life—to become something tangible, meaningful, and fulfilling.
Health became a turning point for me.
Diabetes runs in my family, and in 2021, I was diagnosed as pre-diabetic. I struggled—still do at times—with cutting carbs, staying consistent with exercise, and navigating lifestyle changes. It hasn’t been easy. Some days I forget. Some days I fall off track.
I am human—and that is okay.
What matters most is choosing better when we can, and finding healthier options that feel sustainable, comforting, and realistic for everyday life.
That’s where sourdough entered my story.
Instead of completely eliminating bread, I began learning about true sourdough fermentation and how it differs from regular bread. Through long fermentation times, sourdough allows natural bacteria to slowly break down sugars and starches in the dough. This process can help reduce rapid blood sugar spikes and supports a gentler insulin response compared to conventional breads made with commercial yeast and quick-rise methods.
With patience and time, fermentation:
· Breaks down complex carbohydrates
· Reduces the glycemic impact of bread
· Supports easier digestion for many people
This mattered deeply to me and my family.
Now, I bake weekly for my parents, hoping that if they continue to enjoy bread, it will be bread made with wholesome, real ingredients—no preservatives, no add-ins, no shortcuts. Just flour, water, salt, and time.
And with the help of Sally, my sourdough starter—cultivated from only flour and water—each loaf is naturally leavened and thoughtfully made. Sally represents patience, care, and trust in the process.
Little Home Creations is the result of blending my passions for creativity, design, food, and intentional living. It is my way of caring for the people I love, honoring my health journey, and creating something meaningful with my hands.
This is my story.
And I’m so glad you’re here.
